Julie Cameron

EA, MAAA, Consulting Actuary

Julie has 30 years of experience as a pension actuary specializing in multiemployer defined benefit plans.

She spent 20 years at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, most recently as director of the Negotiations & Restructuring Actuarial Department. She reviewed applications for Special Financial Assistance under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, and developed and led the PBGC-Treasury coordination on reviewing benefit suspensions and partitions under the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act. 

She also oversaw measuring unfunded liabilities by terminating single-employer plans, reviewed multiemployer plan mergers and transfers, proposed alternative withdrawal liability rules, and helped enforce ERISA. She also served as a special consultant to Congress on legislative proposals addressing the multiemployer pension crisis.

Before joining the PBGC, she worked for a decade at some of the nation’s largest actuarial consulting firms.

She often speaks at industry and professional conferences, including the annual meetings of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, Enrolled Actuaries, and the National Coordinating Committee for Multiemployer Plans.

She is congenial and collaborative and builds lasting relationships. She excels at presenting complex information clearly and delivering it in an engaging, accessible style. 

She joined Cheiron in August 2025.

She is an Enrolled Actuary under ERISA and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
