Patrick Nelson joined Cheiron in July of 2009 after working with Mercer as actuarial analyst for over two years. He graduated from Butler University with a Bachelors of Science in Actuarial Science, Math, and Economics in 2005.
Patrick's experience is in pension plan management and administration. He has performed annual valuations and disclosure reports for pension plans and post-retiree medical plans, including calculations under FAS 87, 88, 106, 132, and 158, as well as funding and accounting calculations for qualified and non-qualified plans in both the Public and Private Sector, data reconciliation, liability calculations and results presentations. He has also worked with clients on benefit calculations, benefit statements, experience studies, and adherence and completion of IRS and PBGC forms and filings.
He enjoys the challenge of offering tailored advice to clients through the use of technical analysis and innovative thinking. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and an Enrolled Actuary under ERISA.
